Accessing Big Spring Falls on the Kettle River

Big Spring Falls - Improving Access

Big Spring Falls is a river wide waterfall on the Kettle River.  Located just a mile south of the small town of Sandstone, Minnesota.
The only access to the falls is via a road passing through Sandstone.

Road improvements: At the present time the road to the trailhead is in need of repair.  During the winter months seepage covers the road with ice making access difficult without a four wheel drive vehicle.
The City of Sandstone is planning to access to road and add drainage.

Parking access: The current parking at the Big Spring Falls trail head is random and haphazard allowing for only 6-8 vehicles.

Wayfinding signage: At this time there is no signage directing travels to the falls. The town of Sandstone does not have any plans to add wayfinding signage to direct travelers.
